Cycling – Club Sections

The club is split into different sections to better cater to members’ needs. Members are not limited to any one section or cycling style. Indeed, many like to mix up a bit of everything!

Road encompasses social group cycling; riding and training for longer distance ‘AUDAX’ and cyclosportive events; and racing. If you join a road group then you’ll generally want to be on a road bike. Hybrids, fixies, fold-up bikes and city bikes are not suitable for joining a road group. MTBs should only be ridden in a peloton by experienced (and fit/strong) riders. Weekend warriors and MAMILs welcome!

If you fancy a longer, uninterrupted ride or a chance to ride through a less built-up landscape, then we also frequently organise van-supported day/weekend-trips. Distances range from 150 km/day to around 400 km over a weekend. Several members have used these rides to successfully train for and complete the incredibly grueling ‘Paris-Brest-Paris’ which only takes place every 4 years.

We also send riders and teams to many races across South-East Asia each year, with weekly team training rides to improve riders’ skill, speed, endurance and strength. In recent years, ANZA cyclists have enjoyed great success at Thailand’s Tour of Friendship and Indonesia’s Tour de Bintan.

Our tough-as-nails trail hackers get together for regular social/training rides in Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and the MTB parks at Kent Ridge, Tampines and Pulau Ubin. Hardtail, full suspension, 29-er… whatever your machine is, built-up Singapore (somewhat surprisingly) offers plenty of trails, downhill, XC and single track to get into. Many MTB riders also take part in MTB (day/night) and Enduro races, as well as XTerra Off-road triathlon and other Adventure Series races across the region.

ANZA Cycling’s many triathletes (cyclists who also like to swim and run…) train and compete in all distances of the sport (mini, sprint, standard half- and full-ironman distance). Our members also get together to open water swimming and sometimes follow up a long ride with a quick run-off-the-bike before coffee. Members travel to events within the region (Bintan, Indonesia; Busselton, Western Australia; and Phuket, Thailand are particularly popular destinations) as well as around the globe.
